Vitamin D

An extensive review by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN), suggests everyone over the age of one needs to consume 10 micrograms of vitamin D each day in order to protect bone and muscle health.

Vitamin D can be made in the skin from sunlight and is stored in the liver. Deficiency causes rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults. It works with calcium and phosphorus to form and maintain healthy bones. Magnesium and calcium aid its absorption and use. Vitamin D is also important for healthy bones,blood pressure, skin, mood and muscle strength.
